CertiPur-US®

Established in 2008 as a program of the Alliance for Flexible Polyurethane Foam, CertiPUR-US® aims to ensure safer mattress foam and empower customers to make healthier choices for their families. As a non-profit organization, CertiPUR-US® tests polyurethane foam to certify that it is free from known toxic substances and flame retardants.

CertiPUR-US certified foams are:

• Made without ozone depleters
• Made without PBDEs or the following Tris flame retardants: TCEP, TDBPP, TDCPP or TEPA
• Made without mercury, lead, and other heavy metals
• Made without formaldehyde
• Made without phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission
• Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million)

In comparison to other mattress certifications, how does CertiPUR-US® stack up?

Although not as comprehensive as GOTS and GOLS, CertiPUR-US® remains a valuable certification for those who prioritize the absence of specific toxins in their mattress. Unlike GOTS and GOLS, CertiPUR-US® does not cover the origin of raw materials or the welfare of workers.
