Yes, our foam is CertiPUR-US Certified, which means it is made without mercury, lead, or other heavy metals. It also has low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emissions—less than 0.5 parts per million. Our foam is made without ozone depleters, PBDEs, TDCPP, or TCEP (“Tris”) flame retardants.

Most of our customers report not detecting any unusual odors after unpacking our mattresses. However, if you do notice a natural scent after unwrapping the mattress, this slight odor should dissipate within 24 hours in a well-ventilated space.

You can use any strong and solid base, including adjustable bases. However, you should avoid slatted foundations with gaps of more than 3" and box springs with actual springs. The mattress is made of latex foam, a naturally breathable, open-celled material, so it doesn't require a slatted foundation for cooling. However, a slatted base can improve breathability and reduce the chances of mold on the mattress cover in high-humidity environments.

Organic Dunlop latex and 100% natural Dunlop latex are not significantly different. The organic certification for latex indicates that the production process uses less water and power, has a smaller carbon footprint, and has a lower environmental impact. This certification ensures that the latex is better for the environment and the workers, but the final product is the same whether the latex is 100% natural or organic. This is why there is no organic Talalay available, as the Talalay process is more complex, uses more water and electricity, and cannot meet the organic latex certification's reduced water and electricity usage requirements.

All of the latex sold by us is made from 100% natural rubber harvested from a rubber tree. The final product is 98% pure rubber, with the remaining 2% consisting of natural fatty acids, natural soaps, and natural reinforcing agents needed for manufacturing.
